Children in El Salvador grow up surrounded by violence, gang recruitment, and neglect. For a kid without a stable family, there is often nowhere safe to land. Valiant Life supports a children's home run by a local ministry team who have built something better than a roof and a meal.

Their program is called Sendas de Esperanza, which means Paths of Hope. Here is what a month there actually includes:

• A homework club: Staff sit down with the kids after school and work through their assignments, so falling behind does not turn into dropping out.
• Reading and literacy help: One-on-one support for children who started school late, or never got to start at all.
• A group for the older kids: The teenagers have their own group and their own coordinator, so they have somewhere to belong that is not the street.
• Health coverage: Medical insurance for the children, so a fever or a broken arm does not become a crisis.
• The basics, every month: Clean water, electricity, and a safe building.

At the end of every month, the team sends us a full accounting of what your giving paid for, down to the water bill. That is how we can tell you exactly where your money went and actually mean it.
